My weight loss Journey

Intro to my Weight Loss Journey.

Keep tracking my progress on the left hand-side via blogs.

I would say that my Journey started when I found myself at 22 stone and feeling like a beached whale back in yr 2000. My biggest drive to lose weight was trying and find a life partner. At 22 years of age and with a weight to match. Not a healthy way to be at a young age but never the less I was and was in need of help. I found it hard to be attrative to anyone and never got a look in when going to pubs and clubs it was always my friends that walked away in love never me. I had the odd date but never turn into much.

Feeling fed up with everything and also smoking my way closer to a shorter life… I found a drive deep within me to finally become the person I knew I always could be. I tried to focus on things that would boost me up. My Sister was due to have her first baby and I didn’t want to be the fat uncle that couldn’t run around after them. So I started my Journey. I joined Weight Watchers (I’m not plugging this company). I would say that having a group of people facing the same challenges as me helped me being faced with a loss or a gain, helped to talk about it if  you went wrong and to get yourself back on track.

I really believe that the only way I was going to learn how to eat healthily was to stick to a plan which was normal foods and never say no to anything if you really wanted it, but to know your limits. I have tried many different pills and didn’t find they worked that well for me. Plus you don’t really know what the damage it may do in later life.

Once I started losing it also had boosts to keep you going – seeing the change. I wouldn’t say its been easy having come from a large build family and people saying that its in your familly  your never be thin and just be happy… thats crap. You will always be faced with bad criticism from people sometimes the ones you love. Remember to do what you want, for you to be the thin person you want. Sometimes I find people that are jealouse do this.

Here are some photos of my Journey this far:

  6. Well done Matt. Until I saw all the old photos I couldn’t believe quite how much weight you had lost. I really do admire your determination. If you have any chocolate you don’t want, can I have it please?
